Building a community of lifelong learners!
About
The goal of any education program is to produce students that are career or college-ready. I believe we as individual teachers and collective school faculties must teach students in a manner that attends to their social and emotional wellbeing. Once a teacher/student relationship is formed on mutual trust and respect then curriculum, instruction, and assessment is much easier to address.
I have been in education for 25 years. My first teaching position was being the fourth 1st grade teacher for a group of students. Later, I spent four years as a special education teacher for students with low incidence, significant disabilities. I taught 4th grade for a decade. I also taught middle and high school for several years. During these years I was a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal. I've also contracted with the Louisiana Department Of Education to help schools and teachers meet the needs of students with significant disabilities. I was the assistant principal for two years at Rosepine High School and now the principal at Pickering High School.
Our mission is to embrace the pursuit of excellence both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage critical thinking and emphasize the learning process over rote memorization.
